Hi folks. The Yachtsman, our son, Moonshine, and I just posted the
directions to two new letterboxes in Florida. Hope anyone else
headed down there this winter will also add some boxes -- the state
doesn't seem to have enough for those of us used to the density of
letterboxes in New England.
One letterbox is outside of St Augustine in Guana River State Park
(Guan River State Park Letterbox); the other is southeast of Kissimee
in the Disney Wilderness Preserve (Snowy Egret Letterbox). Have fun
and let us know if you find them, please!

Kissimee is in Central Florida near Orlando. Florida is a really big
state! It would be good to get a map of the Florida State Parks
before you go from a travel agent or driving club.

If one is not near you, consider planting one yourself. We have very few on
Long Island and some of those are missing. Sad to say the one I planted in
June was missing in October.

If I do plant one in or near Miami....I'm not likely to be there again
(I'm tagging along on a business trip of my husband's) I would not be
able to maintain the box. Should I just plant it and hope for the
best....counting on the good will of other boxers to do any required
maintenance? Or is this too presumptuous and in bad form?

Bindle Bum and I are heading to Southwest FL (Port Charlotte Harbor)
the tail end of Feb and beginning of March for our annual sailing
charter.
I have a new log book and two fresh boxes ready to take along.
However .... we're looking to see if any local boxers would be
willing to maintain/adopt them for us.
For the last several years we've gone down every winter (at least
for a short visit). Right now, we don't plan to change that routine
but one can never be too be sure that far in advance.
Enjoy!
